Catholic Social Teaching at St Charles RC Primary School

At St Charles RC Primary School, our mission is rooted in the teachings of the Gospel. We believe that every person is made in the image of God and should be treated with dignity, respect and love.

To help our children understand how to live out these values in their daily lives, we follow the 7 Caritas themes, which are based on Catholic Social Teaching. These themes guide our work in school and help our children to grow as caring, responsible and active members of society.

The 7 Caritas Themes

Dignity of the Human Person
We believe that everyone is special and should be treated with kindness and respect.

The Common Good
We work together to make our school and wider community a place where everyone can flourish.

Participation
We encourage all children to take part, share their views and know that their voice matters.

Preferential Option for the Poor
We are called to support those who need help the most and to show compassion in our actions.

Solidarity
We stand together as one family, supporting others both locally and around the world.

Stewardship
We care for God’s creation and take responsibility for looking after our environment.

Subsidiarity
We empower individuals to make decisions and take responsibility, knowing that everyone has an important role to play.

These themes are woven through our curriculum, our prayer life and our daily interactions. Through our work with charities, our support for one another and our commitment to living out our faith, we aim to ensure that every child understands how they can make a positive difference in the world.
